| Inspiring presentation |
| I just heard TA speak this evening. WOW. We were a group of teachers completely engrossed in your presentation. It's not an easy task to engage a room full of teachers! You were inspiring and we learned so much from you. Some amazing messages, reminding us to chase our dreams and shoot for the moon. Thank you for sharing a piece of yourself with us. You have indeed made a difference in our lives. I'm looking forward to reading your book after buying it today. Thank you again! |

| HI from Heather |
| HI TA, Hope you have a safe trip home. TA things happen for a reason and sometimes we do not know the reason why and we often question ourselves too much over the why. But I think you made a wise decision if you were not ready mentally for it the physical side would have definitely not let you get to the top. The two go hand in hand, just beng philosophical today. Take care. Heather |

| Hi from Heather |
| Hi TA, When I was ready to climb Ben Nevis I had big doubts I remember looking up at it and saying why am I doing this..But I overcame it because deep down I knew it was now or never...so my inner strength from somewhere took over and I did it. I know your mountain is much higher, but I know you can do it, it is something you have been wanting for a long time. Take care and stay safe. In my thoughts and prayers.

| Watching in anticipation |
| The folks at Ridetherock.com (an adventure motorcyclist group) are all excited about your being on the big rock! You make us all proud, we can't wait to hear what your decision will be about your climb.
After seeing one of your presentations on "disappointment" and remembering you tell your story of how bad you felt when you had to cancel your summit attempt, I have been much happier about my attempts at risky adventures, regardless of the outcome.
I hope your altitude affected psyche can hear yourself speak and make a good solid decision on "to climb or not to climb". In any case - we want you to come back in one piece to tell another story! |

Whether you make it or not, everyone will be proud of your accomplishments. I want to encourage you to keep going you are closer than you've ever been. Keep giving us the day by day because your uncle Dave and I are reading them. Bye and Good Luck!!Aunty Irene |

However, we at GATHER seniors are watching your progress with interest and cheering each new goal attained. | TA,
Will you receive this? I wonder. Happy Easter, Ms. Easter Bunny. Julie Brunner and I want to know if you brought your 'ears' to Nepal? One year ago today, the cafe was open and the Easter bunny was flipping flap jacks! One year ago...
I am home from a most amazing journey to Egypt. The world has opened its doors and I have stepped in. Life will not be the same. Egypt, the pyramids brought me to the place where reality and mystery merge. Living life means living with the Mystery that there is so much more to know, to open to, to receive. Much like climbing your Mountain. I loved Egypt and could have stayed much longer. A trip down the Nile is on the horizon-interested?. I have no idea if these photos will come through to you, but so far your ability to bring technology along with you out surpasses anything I could have thought possible, I will give it a try. (no, they will not, but they are waiting in your inbox at home.)
I am with you, my dear friend, as you make your way back to a familiar place with such a different consciousness, such a different cell structure, such a different time than last time. I have a good feeling about this journey. You feel strong and clear and I am happy to feel that.
I love you, K-woman. |

| Feedback for you! |
| Hello TA,
We all enjoyed the summer without thinking of the conference and now we are reviewing the evaluation forms. I am just giving you feed back from your presentation. It was outstanding. Nothing but rave reviews. The forms number 1 to 4, 4 being the highest and you received a prefect 4. Some people pencil in 10! The following are a few comments stated:
best motivational speaker I have ever heard
excellent speaker
TA, a "10"
message of hope and inner reflection - I will share her story
inspiring
fabulous
TA, the best speaker of the entire conference
Amazing
The opening and closing speakers were the best I have heard in 30yrs attending ORNAC Conferences.
I have heard two other climbers speak on Mount Everest but TA was by far inspiring. She really enforced the team approach, that is necessary. Much like OR nursing.
Its OK not to reach your goal but it is the process you take that is important.
On behalf of ORNAC thank you for speaking. Good luck with Everest!

| Thanks TA |
| Hi TA,
I have been following your adventures since your attempt on Everest and have read your book twice now! I have been meaning to write you in the past but sometimes I put the Pro in procrastinate. I hope these words come across as sincere and meaningful as I mean to write them to you. By following your adventures you have helped me create new goals and seek new challenges. In the past I was always in a comfort zone with a lot of things in my life though I was itching everyday to travel more and to teach english in korea. In August I gave up my job and I'm sending you this email from Korea in between preparing for tomorrow's classes. I have loved every minute here even the times I start to feel frustrated not being to talk to someone, or order food in a restaurant. My journey here is the start of many goals I have planned! I tell you this because your book was amazing! I loved reading how you take yourself out of your comfort zone, the sacrifice you make to obtain your dream, and the passion you live with everyday! You are very inspiring and though I obviously wanted you to summit everest, you have made me start my climb and every day I feel I'm taking another step to living a very fulfilled life. I'm so happy to hear you are making another attempt and I know this time you will be successful! Your determination is admirable! Well, I'm glad I took the time to thank you for your inspiration, wisdom, and insight! I'm glad there are people out there like you who sacrifice everyday to benefit others. I do appreciate your hard work and more importantly I hope you stand on top of the world! |

I've decided that TA stands for "Totally Amazing"!!! Your talk to our OR nurses group today was nothing short of that. Afterwards so many people were talking about what a great job you did. You gave everyone so much to think about as they make their way back to their homes all across the country....what a great ending to our week!!! Thanks so much for everything and good luck in all your future adventures. I'm so glad to be included in your weekly updates. Take care and see you at rink.

| Hi TA
I met you Wednesday May6th at Clarenville. I was fortunate enough to have my picture taken with you. It's people like you that make me proud to be a Newfoundlander. I was a very adventurous person,I spent most of my time outdoors when I wasn't working. My dream was that one day after I retired I would buy myself a camper van and travel across Nfld and camp overnight in every campsite along the way. Unfortunately,my dream became just that, a dream. I suffered a back injury and had to stop working. I have had three back surgeries and a few years ago while living in Alberta I took part in laser research, a team of doctors severed the nerves that was causing the pain. It helped for a couple of years but now I'm back to square one. My dream came to a screeching halt and I was devastated. I know how you must have felt when you had to turn back but with god's help and me rooting for you the next time is going to be a piece of cake. Good luck with your book I was unable to buy it but my friend did and she promised I could borrow it (smile). Keep up the good work you are an inspiration not only to me but every man, woman and child that know you. I help teach quilt making and other crafts at our seniors and 50+ club when they say I can't do something I composed a little poem. It will be in our book that we are writing, it goes something like this.
Never Say Can't
I can't do this, I can't do that
My hands are too big,my fingers too fat
I can't sew or I can't knit
And my cross stitch is not fit
What's this world coming to
If you let a four letter word control you.
Be determined and take a stand
Remove the "T" and say I can.
Good luck in all future endeavors

| I did okay with the celebrating ;-) I do have to say, and I know you may get sick of hearing it - but you were fantastic! It was such a treat to hear you speak, but you were eloquent, touching, real, and I have to say, incredibly moving. The way to related a climb to the fight against breast cancer was so beautiful.
There were a couple of women in the room who are undergoing treatment and they were very moved and inspired.
I heard you were good, but as I'm sure you could tell - I thought you were just exceptional - the perfect way to end the evening. Again, my deepest thanks. |

| Hi TA,
I hope that all is well with you and that you have been having a great summer. I finally was able to sit down and read your book while I was on vacation and I had to drop you a line to thank you for sharing this wonderful story with all of us. I started the book on my plane ride home and instantly I knew it was going to be one of those reads that I wouldn’t be able to put down until it was all finished. Your book was one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of reading. The honesty and descriptive writing was truly inspiring. Your book made me laugh; cry and more often then I sat reading in total awe of you. You’re an inspiration through your passion and determination. I remember being at Natalie’s once and you joked that TA stood for totally awesome, after reading your book I will forever think of TA being short for truly amazing. Congratulations on all that you have accomplished, you have so much to be proud of. I look forward to witnessing all the greatness you will achieve in the future as I got a feeling your only getting started. Thanks again for taking the time to recount your story and enabling people like myself to share in your journey. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

| Thank you |
| For every time I make an excuse or tell myself I can't, I will think of your journey to Everest and make it a stark/inspirational reminder that there are typically never any "good" excuses and to replace any thoughts of "can't" with can and will.
After I finished your book, my husband asked if you were a better writer or speaker/presenter (I have heard you present at several MUN events). My reply - "She excels at both."
TA I haven't met you personally, but your words (spoken and written) are far-reaching. Thank you for bringing my everest to a place where I utilize your words and experiences to push my own limits daily.
Keep up the great work! |

| Just this minute finished reading your book. I've read so many books about Everest and am fascinated by the people who go to climb Everest. I love your book most of all for it's honesty and it truly is inspiring. You have such an ability to reach people and honor that we all have our own Everest quests. Your book is one I will turn to again and again. I'll be following your adventures and I may be wrong but in my heart I believe you will one day summit the big one. Your wisdom will stay with me everyday!!!!

| Hi TA! I was one of the throng that listened to your recent speech at the CAUCUSS conference at MUN, and read your book cover-to-cover while returning home to Alberta. Your journeys/stories are truly an inspiration. I did not have an athletic bone in my body until 5 years ago, when I decided to try running as an "Everest" for my 40th birthday. Needless to say, I went slowly at first but quickly began to see myself and my place in the world in a new light. I remember your talk starting with,What's Your Everest? In just over a month, my family and I are going to enter a race called the Canadian Death Race, and my stage is climbing Mount Hamel (combo. of walk/run). While it's not an Everest summit, it is my Everest nonetheless. Keep up the excellent work. When post-run finances are in, I plan on making a donation. In the meantime, I'll keep checking your site when my own fears start to creep in. Gratitude to you until then...Rhonda |

| The thought of a Kilimanjaro climb holds a special memory for me - I've been following you in spirit |
| TA, et al...Congratulations.
My beautiful daughter Jessica started a fund raising idea at her boarding school in Northern Ireland....she was going to climb Kilimanjaro with some friends to raise money for charity - a children's charity - she didn't care which one. The thousands of pounds (Stirling) she'd require for the trip didn't dampen her plans - she planned and discussed sponsorship options and was convinced (at least) financially it was feasible. She was pumped!
Then she attended an information session to see exactly what was necessary for the physical input as opposed to strictly financial and she realized that her stamina would need more input than her favourite sport could provide. Jessica was a Olympic standard shopper and that was the sum total of her physical endurance requirements.
In her own way, Jessica reached her Kilimanjaro without ever touching the soil of the base camp – I was grateful to be able to follow you up the summit she had once attempted (in spirit at least), this climb held a special place in my heart because of Jessica’s wishes. Great accomplishment again Congratulations – I look forward to our hike in September.
PS. I consumed your book in the first reading and leave it on my coffee table to temp others to run to the book store and get their copy.

Diane, Gary wrote an email several times now, but I think they have been going to a personal email account and not a message that you would have access to. He says that at 50, although you may feel over-the-hill, you don't have to literally go over-the-hill.

| Hi TA,
I just finished reading your book last night. It was awesome!! I was so interested in your whole story. I couldn't believe you went through so much adversity on your journey to Everest. I know I would have given up long before you did!! lol Congratulations on your great book and on many successful climbs! As you said, success is not measured on reaching the summit. You had mcuh success and fullfilment from what I read!! I could only wish to have so much in a lifetime!! You truly are an inspiration and should be proud of your accomplishments for sure. Keep up the awesome work and dedication and I wish you much luck and success on your future Everests!! |

| Hey TA, |
| Just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to meet with the Guiding Units here in C.B.S. As I suspected, you made a huge impact and my daughter hasn’t stopped chatting about your presentation. Actually, she did a Discover Scuba course at the pool in Field House this past week and made a point of locating your office so she could check out the prayer flags. I know you receive a lot of emails about how you have touched people and propelled their sense of value and potential but I fell whether you receive one email or one hundred, it is essential that you realize the impact you have on people simply by sharing, laughing and caring. When you can reach a young person, and in this case young ladies who are going through that awkward stage of trying to figure out who they are and where they fit in, and make them understand their importance in our world and the heights they can achieve.........well, that is really something special. You truly have a gift....one that is appreciated by many of us.
So safe travels, and to coin your phrase “Climb high, Climb far”. My daughter and I will be tracking the WOKies progress online. |

| TA, I just finished your book and it was everything that I had hoped for and more. It is hard to express in words what a pleasure it is to have shared a small part in your Everest just by reading your adventure. I've never really faced great adversity just day to day average stuff, and I have yet to discover any dream or ambition. Someday I know that if I just listen to my inner thoughts it will arrive and I will recognise and embrace it. You are an inspiration to everyone. When you made the decision to treasure your health as a sacrifice to your dream (at least for now) I shed tears for your courage and your determination. I wish you the best in all your future "Everests" and look forward to being able to attend one of your presentations. |

| Hi there TA,
I just had to write you.............to say Thank you......Thank you so much for sharing your experiences in your book "More than a Mountain: One Woman's Everest". It moved me......completely! It is so true when you say that everyone has their own Everest, so so true. I have to admit that I have never contacted any author from any book I have read but I felt compelled to write to you to express my gratitude. The dates you mentioned in your book were significant to me as well, as I was climbing my own personal mountain as well.......something that changed me forever and as you put it just put the world in a whole different light. What a role model you are and a strong person. The greatest of luck to you in everything that you do! |

You were great TA. We all loved it. |

| Thank you |
| Dear TA
You are an inspiration to everyone you touch, in particular to all women and anyone who have their own “Everest” to climb, whether that being physical or spiritual. Your determination, preparation and the obstacles you encountered along your journey were amazing. It had to be unbelievably hard to make the decision to leave the mountain without reaching the top. However it didn’t seem to dampen your spirit and belief in yourself. You are truly a remarkable person and again an inspiration to everyone who has those “big dreams and big goals”. It was a privilege and an honor to have you as our guest speaker at the East Coast Trail Volunteer Event April 27, 2008. Your presentation was enjoyed by everyone and was the highlight of the day! Thank you again for sharing your journey with us and for motivating us to move ahead with our dreams and goals.
Your spirit and footprints remain on the mountain awaiting your return!

| Enjoyed your book |
| I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Your struggle with the decision to leave Everest was so poignantly described that I truly shared your pain. I think I have a much greater appreciation of the mental anguish you experienced as you battled the physical symptoms of illness.
I will never climb a mountain, I may never have the pleasure of knowing another mountain climber but I have known many people who have taken on their own 'Everest' and who need inspiration from people like you to take on their challenges (over an over if necessary), one step at a time.

| Just finished your book |
| TA,
I finished your book this morning - while sunning by the pool! I don't know if I can put into words how your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual journey has touched me.
The description of your emotions is moving. Mental visualization and emotional connection for your reader is profound - I felt as if I was stepping once and breathing once, as you were doing this same.
I know nothing of the Buddhitst teachings, but felt a sense of calmness when reading your descriptions of the convents, prayer wheels and chants.
Your dedication to everything you do is amazing - I don't have enough mental strength to commit to starting a running program or finding time to walk my dog regularly - but now, I have someone to inspire me...I have someone's unbelieveable dedication tucked in my mind, to drive me to achieve "My Everest", however small it may be! |

| Hi TA,
Your book arrived today.....thank you so much, I am thrilled to have it. I also want to say how much I appreciate being included in your acknowledgements....I have never been formally acknowledged in a book before and I’m pleased as punch to see my name in print. I absolutely LOVE the cover photograph.....it brought tears to my eyes thinking of all you went through to be there. It’s just beautiful. I can only imagine what you must be feeling seeing your book in print and holding it in your hands.
Receiving your book in the mail today was perfect. This morning I checked MyEverest site and realized they were shutting down all communications from the expeditions currently at EBC and I was so disappointed. Now, I have the perfect antidote.....your book. I am just so glad this didn’t happen last year when I was so glued to your daily updates. I don’t think I could have managed to get through a whole month of not knowing what was happening to you.
I have to run now, I have some reading to do!! Thanks again TA. |
| Iris | Sunday, April 13, 2008 4:52:41 PM |
| Bottom to top |
| Well TA, I simply must tell you that I am having some problems reading your book. This is probably because I am so interested in your story that I often read the bottom of the pages first to see what happens, then return to the top of the page...I just can't get through it fast enough! :)
I am going to have to hurry because if it comes down to a choice between reading your book and studying for finals,....I may be in the PE program longer than anticipated! Again, congrats!
p.s. I LOVED the vanilla dip's (sorry, Velma's) excursion!

| Jen | Sunday, April 13, 2008 4:51:52 PM |
| Wow |
| Been reading the book....I'm speechless....I find myself reading the words, but feeling as if I'm experiencing each footstep on the mountains, seeing all the sights, and hearing all the sounds. At times I find myself so caught up in what I'm reading I'm holding my breath and very tense. The way you describe the scenes and your emotions is captivating. |
| Jess | Sunday, April 13, 2008 4:50:08 PM |
| Not during finals |
| It was definitely a mistake to buy your book DURING EXAM TIME, when I should be studying... I bought yesterday it thinking "I'll read it on the plane ride in two weeks"... and then I fell asleep reading it. Now I've started... I can't stop. It's great TA. In this last semester, reading all the messages from Kili Karuna, your presentation, class, and now this book, you have definitely inspired me to figure out my everest and go after it. Reading what you have (and are) going though and how you conquer things definitely helps me in my life. I've definitely made changes in my life and in myself and it's because of the things you do and say... so i can't wait to get to the next part of the book. I'm definitely buying it for others close to me. I think it is a wonderful book that will inspire many people.
Excellent Job!

| In February 2008 the Office of Student Recruitment, Memorial University, hosted two information sessions for prospective students and their parents on Memorial’s St. John’s campus. We had the privilege of having TA Loeffler as a guest speaker who titled her presentation to the groups “Accept the Invitation”, which was so fitting for our audience.
TA was able to relate her life experiences to these students and parents as they accepted the invitation to take on a new challenge at University. As we spoke to guests after these sessions they told us how inspiring TA was and she really eased students’ minds about coming to University. As a National and International award wining faculty member of Memorial University TA exemplifies student centered teaching methods and makes students excited about learning.
We would like to have TA speak at all of our events as she is truly an inspiration to all!
Thank you again TA so much.

Any normal presentation, you zone in and out, but you kept my attention the whole time - I don't think I blinked. All I could think of was wow. You had so much determination, so much training, went through so much to climb Everest. You had me in tears at happy and sad parts. I just wanted to say congrats on all your hard work and actually making it as far as you did. Maybe one day you'll make it to the top :)

| Hello,
I would just like to say you are an amazing speaker. I was one of the delgates at the JAAC 2008 conference at the Holiday Inn on Febuary 16th. It was such an amazing speech. It was so inspirational. I loved it. I bought a set of the prayer flags. Every time I see them it reminds me off your speak and in turn inspires me to seek my own goals, climb my own Everest. I can't wait for your book to come out. |

| You were Great! |
| On February 17th, Dr. T A Loeffler was the Guest Speaker at our Baden Powell Brunch, an annual event that celebrates the Girl Guide and Boy Scout movement throughout the world and our event was attended by many of the Guide and Scout leaders of the Metro St. John’s area.
In organizing this event, I was responsible to find and book an appropriate guest speaker...someone who could relate to our organization and its ideals and goals. I had heard of TA through various forms of media which ultimately lead me to her website. The same website I revisited on many occasions to track TA’s progress in summating Mount Everest. I became very inspired by her and thought who better to speak to our group than Dr. T A Loeffler.
As Girl Guide and Boy Scout leaders, we hope to inspire the youth in our organization to set goals and to do their best in everything they undertake. We want them to see that nothing is unobtainable. With hard work and perseverance our possibilities are unlimited and, although sometimes we may not reach our goal, the journey is often the most rewarding and educational part of the experience.
When TA began to speak, I knew I had made the perfect choice. Her humorous and down-to-earth personality immediately engaged the entire group. This petite woman exuded an inner strength that is truly remarkable. She showed by her own example that we are capable of anything we want to do or be. Sharing the story of her experiences, she reinforced the ideals of our organization - everyone has something special to give, and by pushing ourselves to step outside our normal comfort zone we can achieve amazing heights personally, professionally and within our organization. She emphasized that our leadership roles afford a wonderful opportunity to transfuse our groups with this same enthusiasm for life and the ideal of our best self.
This year, by promoting TA as the guest speaker, the attendance at the Brunch was at a maximum and I am already looking at the possibility of having her speak at another upcoming event. TA has a wonderful talent to lift spirits and energize her audience. This was evident in the number of emails I received after the event from those in attendance who were both impressed and delighted that they had the chance to hear her speak.
I would highly recommend TA Loeffler as a speaker for any group that needs to be inspired, recharged and reminded of how truly remarkable we all are.

| I am very excited about your book and am proud to say that I have not only met you in person (because you are becoming somewhat of a celebrity figure), but have been able to experience your teaching talents and your ability to motivate people beyond belief. Thank you very much and good luck in all of your upcoming adventures.

| Thanks TA |
| Hi TA,
I want to extend another big THANKS for presenting to my cadet unit last night. Everyone really enjoyed your talk, and the pictures were fantastic! The cadets came up to me afterwards raving about your presentation...it was good to see a renewed spark in a lot of them.
You are doing a wonderful thing by speaking to the youth of this province...they are so impressionable.

| I was glad to see some notes from you again. Consider one copy of your book sold, i can't wait.
I have been following climbs via the Everest.com for the past 4-5 years but your updates added so much to it this year.
I have a question: and i am sure you are asked many times, though I am unsure if you know the answer yet. Will you be going back? |

| Welcome home T.A.!! I really wanted to make it to the airport to see you in but couldn't swing it. I wanted to see you and thank you for your compassion, strength and courage. Everything you did from building the inukshuk for Michael to making the difficult decision to come home was truly extraordinary. You should be so proud of everything you've done!

| Ke Garne? |
| Hi TA,
Regretfully I haven't been tuned in to you summit attempt, although I've been with you in spirit and we mention you among mutual friends out this way in Vancouver. (Christina and I talk about you from time to time and wonder how it's all going) However, during a recent phone call to Mom back in St. John's one morning she interuppted me to listen to either an interview with you or a news story about how you had to abondon the attempt for now because of giardia.
Too bad! I'm so sorry to hear this and my heart goes out to you. I'm sure this is more than disappointing for you but I'm sure it's the right choice. As you say, Everest will still be there waiting for you.
As they say in Nepali "Ke Garne" which, as you know, means 'It cannot be helped." Useful saying, that.
I trust Thamel is relaxing and restorative for you in this time of recovery? Ha! She thinks not. It reminds me of that old Paul Simon song. Bone Digger Bone Digger, Get these mutts away from me. I don't find this stuff amusing anymore...
(or something like that anyway)
I hope you make it home safely and in good health.
So I'll take a glass of purified water and take a drink to your health, m'dear. Glad you're alive to tell the tale!
Hugs,
Lisa

| Hey T.A just wanted to congratulate you on all your success. You are an extrodinary person, And definatly someone to look up to. Your speech that you did in my school December 7th in GFW really inspired me. You taught me so much, And I just wanted to thank you for all your words of encouragement. Meeting you was a great honor. | Have a Safe Trip Home. |
| My son, with his class had been following your travels. Peter Luc has been also checking you out with Muggs at the Children's Rehab. He convinced her he wouldn't tell if she would tell him the name which was denoted by TA.
He was sorry to hear you had to leave the mountain, but impressed at your journey to date. To him you are the greatest adventurer.
His sister (killed in December 2005) was his first hero - she jumped from perfectly good planes and had plans to climb Kilimanjaro (an incredible feat for our Jessica as she thought perspiration was a dirty word).
We're confident there will be a welcoming party at the airport on your arrival back to the island - if there is room - I'm sure Peter Luc would be honoured to be holding a flag to welcome you back safely.
Thank you for the adventure. Jeannette & Peter Luc Holman-Price |

| You've acomplished so much!!!! Be proud!!!!!!! |
| Hello TA! I'm sorry about not beging able to continue Everest-007, but whe nyou think about it, you've acomplished so much! I mean.. I don't think many people would even consider climbing Mt. Everest. Which means you must be a very hard and determained women, which is also pretty cool. Even though you didn't get to complet the climb, a brave, and if I may say so, daring women such as yourself will positively find another chance to climb Mt. Everest. PS- I hope you feel better soon ! |

This weekend I went camping and left because of the MANY ticks . MANY MANY ticks. You, at least, left for an illness!
Life is short, and long. Many adventures await you. You made a very wise decision and I am PROUD of you!!!
Take care!

| TA
Be proud of everything you have done and of your ability to focus on the important things.( your health).
Everest will be there long after this season and you are very young. Many other climbers have needed multiple attempts to get close to the summit.
Thinking of you and how disappointed you must feel as you go back down. Take care of yourself !

| You HAVE impressed me much |
| I have just recently started reading your updates from Everest and I can't imagine the turmoil that you are feeling...but can I just share one insight that I have of your situation as a young mother who has been talking to her son about you and your amazing journey.
Something that I want to teach my son is that sometimes success is being able to sit back and re-evaluate you plan. The answer isn't always the easy one...if it is about drugs, if it is about peer pressure, a dangerious relationship... or if it is about giving yourself permission to be human. With the very hard and disappointing choices we all know there is new strength and a beauty that we find.
Good luck with your choices....you have such a great network of family and friends - you have accomplished so very much! |

There is a reason for everything. Truly.
Be tough, give your body a chance to recover, be kind to yourself. ( not only physically but mentally and spiritually as well).
Many people are behind you, supporting you, hoping and praying for you. Just go with the flow, it will work out OK....

| I am so proud of you! |
| Hi TA! WOW...you're on Mount Everest! Yahoo! I am so proud of you, and so inspired by your climb. What a joy it is to read your wonderful and often witty or moving updates, and also how beautiful it is to read messages of how you have inspired others. If part of your "Road to Everest" was to inspire people, especially youth, then mission accomplished in that department! I'm sure I don't need to tell you what an amazing impact you've had on the lives of so many thus far on your journey; there's a lot of buzz in this city about you...you've got plenty of excited Newfoundlanders behind you, and I'm honoured these days just to say I've met you (you have star status haha)! I was joking with friends the other day about how you were in that Running Room clinic of mine many years ago, and the expression "I knew her when she started out" came to mind, and they all teased me not to flatter myself with once being a part of your training which has clearly led you very far! Self-flattery aside, I fondly remember many runs with you, and am inspired by how far your training and determination has taken you. Also, I was moved by your beautiful tribute to Michael...I knew him through a close friend, and I know your words touched those close to him. And my sympathies to you and those with you on the mountain regarding Dawa Sherpa's death, I know this must have been devastating. You are a strong and inspiring woman, and I know this whole experience will strengthen you even more, and the lives of so many whom you inspire. Stay positive (as you are so good at doing) and be safe, and know you have a lot of fans and support back home, all thinking of you!
Wishing you the best way up there,
-emilie |

| Best Wishes |
| Hi T.A.;
It is wonderful to read about your adventure in person and to absorb the "inspiration" messages from everyone regarding your adventure. I am sure that "all hands" would agree that one of the most lasting impressions that you will make on young and old alike during your expedition is that you are wise in the decisions you make surrounding your safety. Thus I encourage you to be wise in your risk taking thus providing those who you inspire with the a message that will inspire them to do the same when attempting such feats. I suspect there is a fine line mentally between the importance of the success in reaching the top and your security. I do recognize that this kind of trek is not for the "faint of heart" and that not everything works out according to training plans and accepted climbing tactics. Am sure your experiences to date on various mountains has reinforced your concept that success is indeed "about the journey and the learning that comes with every step" regardless of it is going up or down the mountain on that journey. Best wishes! GO FOR IT ... however, please do your best to always remember your criteria for success.

| Amazing Journey |
| Reading your updates makes me think of how we need to remind ourselves how strong we are even in the face of adversity or overwhelming difficulties. Even when life throws us a curve ball we need to rely on our inner strength that only seems to be tapped into when we really need it and often don't even realize we have. It is inspiring to read that although you have prepared for months both physically and mentally you are experiencing complications that are doig just that: testing your strength. The inspiring thing for me is that you are working through it. It reminds us all that even when things get tough it is important to dig deep and find your own personal strength to see you through. Someone once told me that it isn't a good thing to wish someone 'Good Luck' because it suggests that you would need luck to succeed. So I will wish you all the best as you continue your mental and physical trek up Everest! |

| Keep on Climbing ! |
| Hi. I shared your site with some of my Geography classes at Holy Heart today. They were excited to learn of your progress since your visit to our school not so many weeks ago.
The most recent entry (March 30) was of great interest. I projected the site on screen and read the text - often relating my own similar thoughts and experiences during my cross-Canada cycling trip in the summer of 2005. I couldn't help but feel as though my adventure - while difficult and challenging at times - was a luxury compared to your present moment.
What a thrill to see you making it one step at a time. :-)
Be assured that we will continue to track your progress. We are with you in mind and spirit. God Bless and keep on climbing.

| Hi TA. I have two daughters. One, the oldest, has a LD, the other is advanced. They don't have heroes. The younger was completing a Brownie Badge about inspirations, heroes. She didn't have a hero or anyone that inspires her. I had to admit, I didn't either.
I'm a qualified nature nut, I'm 39 years old and I now have a hero whom I can't wait to tell my daughters about.
Best of luck to you. All my hopes and prayers are with you. Please visit Grenfell College some day. I'd love to be one of the lucky ones to meet her hero. You are indeed an inspiration. Keep smiling, keep believing.
All my hopes!!!

| Very Much Inspired and In Awe |
| Hi T. A.
I am a teacher a Holy Trinity Elementary in Torbay, You came to do your power point presentation at my school in February. Our students were fascinated by you and inspired by your message. I was very impressed. We will follow your trip to Mount Everest hopefully . We have received a huge number of your postcards and have mounted a small display on our wall of Everest and the trek route......based on the photography from the Virtual Tour on the National Geographic Site.....that is sOOOOO cool.
We wish you all the very best in your adventure and in bringing the Newfoundland flag to the top of Everest....totally amazing.!!!!!!!!!! Thanks T. A. I am a patriotic Newfoundlander....born and bred , but I would never be able to accomplish what you did when you lifted the Pink White and Green historic Newfoundland flag to the top of Aconcagua. Very Impressive....Did you manage to sell the flag on ebay?
I also admire your abilities as an educator......
Best Wishes
Hope we meet again.
Yours in hoping to inspire the youth of Newfoundland

| My Last Advice |
| Don’t get hurt this week. You’re in great shape and you’ll have a week on the approach so don’t kill yourself this week. Don’t tweak anything and stay away from people with the sniffles.
No one cares how fast you got from BC to C1 or C3 to the South Col. No one will ask you how much you carried to high camp. The first question they will ask when you return is “Did you make it”?
Don’t be afraid to come down to BC to rest. You don’t recoup much at 21,000 ft. It’s not that hard to come back to base to rest.
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. My guess is that you have plenty of each.
All the best. |

| Good Luck |
| I am just emailing to say good luck. I am a first year
student at Memorial. Since your first presentation in my HKR 2000
class last semester, I have been following your updates on the website.
Yesterday I was a participant at leader forum and I just absolutly love
your presentations. Although I have no desire to climb Mt. Everest, I
am an outdoor enthusiast. You have inspired me in so many ways and I am
beginning to realize that I too have a 'pufferfish'. I wish the very
best to you and your team on your ascent. I will be following your
updates and keeping you in my thoughts until you return to Newfoundland.
Good Luck, and congratulations on everything thus far! |

| How I will Remember |
| You've told how some people plan on remembering you while you journey
to the 'TOP', as a displaced Newfoundlander, I have my NL licence plate
on the wall. Each day when I look at it, I will remember what you are
doing and will send a smile and a warm hug through cyberspace to ensure
your safe climb and return. All the best of luck, stay well and feel
the support from hundreds.... |

| Thanks so much for your answers |
| TA,
Thanks so much for your interview answers, they are great and I am sure will
inspire
even more people to reach for their own Everest. I am most impressed
with
your overall attitude and commitment to both your own development as
well as
sharing it with so many.
Please know that you will be in my personal thoughts for the next two
months, as I am sure you will be in so many others. That said, also
please,
please remember and know in your heart that the effort to get to
Everest and
to take on the summit is a victory in itself. In spite of your final
results
you have touched so many people.
Please climb safe, my friend.

yourself.. you have accomplished more already, than a lot of people do in a
lifetime. Good luck on this upcoming trip to Mount Everest. You're in our
thoughts and prayers. |

| Hey Ta! |
| I first learned of your daring adventure when you proceeded with
a very interesting and educational speech at my school. I learned many
wonderful tips when reaching ones goal and the ups and downs that come
along with it. You've made me realize that even the biggest dreams are
within arms length, you just have to have the will power and force to
drive you to the top of the mountain. You have completed so much and
travelled to various places just by doing something that you love and for
that, I applaud you. I'm unsure of what I'm going to study next year
but I know that it has to be something that I'm passionate about and that
involves travelling. By having you come into my school and embracing
the student body with your positive attitude, warm smile and encouraging
words, you truly had a great impact on both the students and teachers.
People are still wowed by what your attempting but I know that you'll
be able to reache your peak and be able to wave that flag proudly,
just like you have done on so many other occassions. I've also
learned that your a professor at Mun, what do you teach? I'm sure your
classes are both engaging and surreal. And remember, if you ever get
discouraged, just remember about all the training you did for this trip, all
the people behind you rooting for you to accomplish this and of course,
a huge plate of brownies and a vanilla dip just waiting to be eaten
when you reach sea level again. I wish you luck on your adventure and for
the many more after that!! GOOD LUCK!! Keep your spirits high and your
energy endless!! |

| Hi TA, |
| Two weeks ago I was not not even aware you existed, let alone your
mission statement to inspire the youth of our beautiful province. As a
recently retired school teacher, I commend you, and wish you a successful
trip. I will be following your progress on Everest.
I am amazed at how your story has affected me. I realize that for 56
years I have done what I've had to do and had no idea how to do what I
want to do. I think now I have a direction. I plan to become involved
with Team Diabetes.
I'll keep you in my prayers and look forward to meeting you when you
return. |

| My daughter came home from school last week to tell me about a woman who was going to climb the biggest mountain in the world! She was very excited and wanted to know more. Of course, my husband and I have been reading about your endeavours for the past year and we too are very excited
for you. My daughter Chloe, has requested that we keep in touch and keep up with your adventure, which is wahat we intend to do. What you are doing is absolutely incredible and you have already inspired so many young people to reach their own Everest. We wish you every success and know that so many prayers are with you. |

| Hello TA |
I first heard about your expedition at the International AEE
conference last November, and I heard you give a short speech about it during the women's gathering on the last day. Since then, I have been following you and your process.. Thank you for doing what you are doing, you are an inspiration to those near and far, and to those, like
myself, who do not even know you personally (yet, I do feel like I know you in some collective unconscious way)! You are inspiring many lives known and unknown! As was written about you recently in the column by Kim Kielley, "being a Buddhist is basically dedicating your life to the service of others, hopefully assisting everyone towards their own
enlightenment" This is so very powerful and Buddhist or not, is a captivating standard to strive towards, helping others recognize their light within. Also, I love your question to others "what is your everest?" Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that I will be following your expedition and sending good energy your way as you approach the upcoming task.. |

| Hi TA, |
| I know that you aren't leaving for another couple of weeks but I am traveling a lot right now and wanted to make sure that I did not forget to send you and e-mail.
I wish you the best and pray for safe travels for you. I know that you will enjoy the trip to the fullest extent.
Remember that it is a long trip and not everything is going to be positive. Hang in there and take each situation in stride. I know that you already are aware of this but I just needed to say it.
I look forward to your updates. Please tell your Apple that I said hello.
I also look forward to your summit photos but more importantly, news of your safe return.

| You are a true inspiration in every sense of the word |
| Not sure if you remember me, but you tortured me in winter outdoor activities and hockey at MUN back in 1996. :)
You took us on a camping trip on Valentines Day. Even though my group was completely unable to start a fire and we
almost starved to death (I remember eating frozen chocolate chip bagels because no one would share with us) I have to say it was one of my fondest memories of my PE era.
I also recall walking on a frozen pond when a super powerful wind picked up and literally threw you across the ice. I have to tell you that when I think of it, I still laugh out loud. You just looked so flippin cute flailing your arms and trying to get your footing.
You also took us on a 'hike' during the trip and we all moaned and groaned because it seemed like we were walking forever, but you persisted saying for us to trust you and that it was worth it. Man, you were right. I will never forget that moment of peace we all felt when we sat in silence in the snow and just took in all the beauty that was around us. I was a moment I will carry forever and I have you to thank for that.
You are a true inspiration in every sense of the word...You make all those around you want to be a better person!
I wish you all the peace and dedication for your next journey. Remember the reward is not making it to the top, it is the journey along the way. We are all with you. |

| Hi T.A., |
| You presented at my daughter's school last week and I just had to contact you to tell you how excited she has been ever since. She has been talking about you all weekend and stating facts about your adventures. She even started writing a journal about you and your trips. She now wants to go to university (even though she is only 9) so that she can be just like you. She told me how much she admires what it is you do and she told me she wants to be a strong determined woman like you. Keep up the great work on inspiring all of us to reach for our dreams. You have inspired one little girl to do just that.
P.S. She was amazed that when you walked through the crowd that you slapped her hand - I think she holds you in close regard to God! |

| Less than a month now! |
| I'm impressed with the newest media coverage. Things are really rolling along for your mission, now. It's time to really focus on the mental part of the preparation. I know it will be hectic getting the details taken care of for the travel to Nepal. Try to make all this happen with as little exertion as possible. Just go through the steps and be cool. I think the trek in to Base Camp will be a good opportunity for you to soak up all the good karma of the Khumbu. Plan to enjoy a leisurely trek.
I'm wishing you a safe journey, and hope you will be successful in only one thing: in doing your best. You will have an awesome opportunity (many actually) to persevere and overcome fatigue, fear, and self-doubt. These are the things that I believe your mission is really all about. The summit is secondary, but I hope you make that, too.

| Hi, TA I'm from Holy Cross Elem. school and you did a presentation at my school a few days ago. The last thing you said to us was "What is your Everest?" My Everest is to be a teacher. Some of the teaches in my school have inspired me. I would like to teach so I could touch children's lives.
Good luck! |

| About your event... |
| TA, you were VERY inspiring - as well as funny and entertaining. The music and the visuals were terrific and especially the commentary. But most of all I loved the way you interacted with the audience and handled all the questions, which is the true test of authentic presence. I have no doubt at all that lots of kids in Nfld are seeing what it is to aspire to doing things they never dreamed of before.
You know the lines from Goethe?
Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. |

| hi TA, |
| I am a student in grade 3 at Bablo Elementary in Clarenville. You visited our school a while ago and I really enjoyed hearing about your adventures. My mom and I check your website and have been following you getting ready for your big climb. We will check all the time when you are
at Everest and we are going to try and write you a letter also in Nepal. I really like going for hikes with my family. We hike to Bare mountain in clarenville lots and the Sherwink trail in trinity. I hope you have a safe trip and I will watch for you picture at the top of everest. |

| I just wanted to say WOW GIRL!!!!!!!!!!! |
| You are an amazing woman and such an inspiration for children, women and men alike. Your presentation itself was fabulous and I know that many of our staff, students and teachers were very moved by your words, pictures and most of all by your hard work and determination to make your dreams come true. I know that my blowfish was trying to do the
Tely 10 which I did for the first time 3 summers ago it was awesome crossing the finish - I suffered a fall last year and I have recently got that blowfish poking me again. I hope to again tackle the Tely 10 this summer. I will think of you as I work to train and accomplish my goal.
I wish you every success - may God grant you a safe and successful journey to the top of Everest!!!! We can't wait to see your next presentation after this trip!! |

| Wow!!! Not only are you an amazing woman who is an inspiration to people but you are also a fantastic presenter. I have not had the pleasure of attending such an emotional and thought-provoking presentation in an awful long time. Your ability to grab the interest of the people yesterday by making your story relevant to them (and me) is a summit in
its own right. Congratulation and thank-you. We will be watching!! Goodluck. |

| Hi TA, |
| Glad you had a good night for your winter overnight. The thought of sleeping ten hours in a cosy sleeping bag in a tent sounds fantastic! Though I know thecooking breakfast in the cold the next morning would be a severe challenge for
me.
I had a great chat this morning with Kevin's teacher about your
presentation and the excitement it has generated in her class. She is extremely impressed with your discipline, determination and ability to reach out to kids (as am
I!) and they are looking forward to keeping track of your climb on your website.
A few weeks ago one of Kevin's hockey team mates asked him about his toque. Kevin replied that it was part of a fundraising thing for his friend that is climbing Mount Everest and he told the teammate a bit about what you are doing. This past Sunday the same kid came up to Kevin and told him about your visit to his school. While they were talking and putting on their hockey gear another teammate piped up and said that you had been to his school as well. They then had this great discussion about Everest (60 Signal Hills) and
yourattempt to climb it. It was a very cool to be able to listen to them talk as I quietly did up Kevin's skates. |

| Follow your dreams and dream big |
| I have a sister-in-law who teaches at a school you spoke at recently. We had dinner together on Saturday. Although she couldn't attend your presentation there, she told me that the staff and students were abuzz about it for days afterwards.
One of her friends told her it was the best presentation ever made at the school: "follow your dreams and dream big". Terrific stuff not just for kids.
In any event, I thought you should know that your presentation was so well received. Congratulations on a job well done and thank you for your superb work as an ambassador for Memorial to the children and teachers of our province.

| Hi Awesome Lady, |
| I've been following all your postings online since you began your journey. Congratulations on your latest climb of the highest peak in the western hemisphere. What a way to spend Christmas!! Your very powerful words, descriptions of the climb and the effects afterward, helped me to feel the exhaustion, strength, elation and achievement of your great
adventure.. I'm encouraging friends to come, listen and see your presentation at MUN INCO Centre on Feb. 18th. at 7:30...I know it will be a successful fundraiser. Good health to you as you enjoy the journey.

| They thoroughly enjoyed your visit and the presentation was very interesting and motivational. You grabbed their attention and answered a lot of their questions both today and from the Canatrek forum such as "How do you go to the bathroom on the mountain!!"I didn't think that one should be broadcast
across Canada, but it's the kind of stuff grade 5's love to know. I'm sure they will follow you along the wy and we'd love to have you back anytime. |

"Stay clean!"

My name is Cecilia . I am a grade three student. Thank you for taking Flat Stanley on your climb to Mount Everest. Our teacher told my class and me all about you. Hope you have a safe trip. I will be thinking about you.

| Appreciate your delivery to the students this afternoon. Your focus and message to the students certainly came through. As a teacher I was impressed with your style and how well you communicated the message to the students. Thank you again and soar to your dreams as you reach the summit of Everest.

| Just reading what you accomplish in the run of a few days is exhausting.... What kind of gas are you using - you could make a fortune.
I admire your zest for "climbing mountains" - of all kinds. And I have taken to heart the idea of doing one thing per day (or at least every couple of days) that scares me a little - it has moved me out of a few comfort zones and brings a smile to my face and spirit at the end of this life exercise.
A few years ago I became so clearly aware of wanting to be so present to the journey called "Life" (rather than just numbly coasting though life) and have taken on many opportunities to learn, to grow, and to be all that I can be in this world. Being idealistic as a young woman, I thought that meant heading to foreign countries to help those less well off than I. However, as I have matured emotionally and spiritually (and I am not sure there is any separation of those two) I have learned that in my every day life where I currently exist there is so much purpose in my life and so much room for enhancement of the spirit and opportunities for growth. And I look to ideas being presented by others either in my personal life, my professional life, or books that I read, documentaries that I love to watch, etc.. So thank you for the idea of challenging myself to do a thing that I fear each day. And thank you for the very inspirational weekly reports. |

| You are going to inspire all of us! I read in today's Telegram about your recent accomplishment in South America. Fortunately the article also gave your web address and mentioned your challenge later this year at Everest. I shall follow your progress and offer any help that I can. I try and stay active and desire to become more fit and take up new challenges but you are in a league of your own. And, you are such a great writer as well. Your accomplishments combined with your incredible journals will inspire me and many others.

| TA was great! |
| I had the privelege of hearing TA speak at the NLEAPA conference in St. John's. Just had to send a quick note to say a great big thank you!!! The brochure said 'be prepared to be awed, inspired and entertained'. Well, I definitely was that and so much more. TA's message was delivered with a perfect mixture of humor, conviction and sincerity and was undeniably the best 'motivational' talk I have ever heard! I wish I
could just write her a cheque for 60,000 dollars and send her on her way!!! I really hope I get another opportunity to listen to her message of inner strength and resilience and that as many young people in our province as is possible get to share her story. |

| Thanks so much for speaking at our Conference. |
| When we were organizing the "entertainment" we knew what a powerful and inspiring message you had. However, we were delighted that the conference participants felt so positively as well. Dr. Perez, our closing speaker, referenced your talk several times in his plenary session. It felt very "full circle" in terms of the theme, discussion and messages. Thanks again for sharing your story with us. |

| Thanks TA |
| Everyone had a great time and were very inspired. A couple of the kids have been imitating your "marshmallow mantra" and walk. "I am a marshmallow, I am light..." One of the moms mentioned that it is the first time in years she has thought of what is my dream? We get so caught up in the meeting of other's needs that we loose that along the way. You gave us a chance to think of that again. We will be following along on your website and will send up prayers for your safe journey up and back. Thanks again for accomadating such a small group! |

| I just wanted to tell you that you are the most inspiring person that I have ever met! I was in an abusive relationship last year and last night at your presentation you made me realixe that that was my Mount Everest. I want you to know that I am facing another mountain I want to run 20 K by July! In every stride I take I will take your words with me! When I want to give up, I will remeber not to look at how far I have to go but you to look at how far I have come! I hope that you realize that have made such an impact on all of us! I want to thank you and I want you to know that I will think of you everday while you are on your climb and I will pray for you and when everything else fails I will yell out my window" YOU CAN DO IT TA!!" =) Thank
you for helping me to realize that I conqured one mountain and now I have to conquer another!! |

| Road to Everest |
| Hi TA, As I was biking to Cape Spear on Saturday I was engrossed in thought of how I can help you raise money for your amazing challenge. In thinking of why I wanted to help you it is simply because you take what you do and use it to inspire others to follow their dreams and I love that about you. I promise I will help you any way I can. Be safe in Russia! |

| Hey T.A.
Any chance you send resend that photo from the south side of the McKinley Bar where you came out past the cairn from McGonagall Pass. Someone hacked into my former e-mail account and got the best of me ... full identity theft. Ahhh!
I am headed back to Denali on Sunday and was gonna try to do McGonagall Pass if I couldn't get into Refuge Valley.
Thanks a bunch ... and the new updates look great!

| Everest |
| We met at the BOW weekend. Good luck with the heavy duty training for Everest. From what I saw I know you can do it. I've kayaked in Monkstown area and wish you all the best. It's large and beautiful inlet. We had a great day there until the winds came up. Then it got a little scarey. Enjoy and may the wind be with you. |

| To Be Commended |
| Dear TA,
well quite a thoughtful post. First you certainly have a lot ofsnow. We have a lot of snow ... you seem to get A LOT of snow!
Secondly, I think your honesty about doubts and fears is to be commended. And it would be, in my opinion, to be expected. I know you already know all this stuff but my first reactions were weigh your options. The pros, cons, joys and risks reinforce the fact that things, even with planning, are all basically unknowns ... and then, go back to the above statement! Be sure about your desires and motives and then, go back to the first statement! Be sure that pressure of any kind is NOT pushing your decisions, realizing that it is okay to change decisions if you want then, go back to all of the above statements.
That's it from here!
Love,
e |

| Supporting You |
| Can't make the "show" but want to support with the purchase of two tickets!!! Let us have the details.
Your training sounds as "all inclusive" as normal ... in fact I'm guessing that not training would now feel abnormal to you?? The little "pages" of your book are great ... can't wait to get a copy of the "real thing". Your periods of doubt will only make you stronger ... as it seems to me you always do... listen closely to that inner voice and follow it's direction.

| Good Morning TA,
I can only begin to imagine the process of taking on such endeavors. If I did not have the Canyon to contextualize your experience I would actually think you were nuts - but I know the difference!!! |

| Inspiring! |
| You are an inspiration. I don't care if you never climb anything more than the stairs at the Avalon Mall, or even take the escalator, you have an amazing ability to focus and analyze and then WRITE ABOUT IT!! Amazing. God, you even make doubt sound enticing. I'll support you whatever.
And, thanks for the Tibetan prayer flags. They looked nicer before Spencer had them flung across the family room floor but maybe he knows something about Tibetan flags and what they like. They seemed to take no offence.

| WOW! |
| Hi TA,
TA I remember saying WOW in my first response about your training schedule and how you push your mind and body to perform for you. I am now saying WOW once again in the way you present your thoughts on paper. The first two paragraphs you wrote were amazing. I always thought getting up at 5-6:00 in the morning to do a 10 mile run was/is TORTURE. But after reading your thoughts I felt I was running along with you and enjoying it myself. I never really thought about the morning runs as being so peaceful. When you wrote about the streets being empty, and not worrying about your wet checks. WOW!
Your entries are not just motivational for me to want to push my body physically but they are also therapeutic to the mind. Certainly enjoy reading your entries TA.
Have a great trip and I hope to get back to hockey so I can have a few laughs with ya before the big trip.
